On Sunday 19 April (from 8.30 am), a gathering in Piazza Gramsci organised by the Valdelsa \u201cFiat 500\u201d Group. In the afternoon, the town centre will come alive with \u201cCastello di Giochi\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some people may be drawn to them because of a family memory. Others choose them out of a collector\u2019s passion, whilst others simply see them as an alternative way to spend their free time. There are many reasons behind the passion for vintage cars, which have accompanied the dreams and carefree years of entire generations and which will take centre stage on Sunday 19 April in Castelfiorentino at a gathering organised by the \u2018Fiat 500\u2019 Valdelsa Group (Certaldo-Castelfiorentino) under the patronage of the local council. From the \u2018popular\u2019 500 to the sports saloons that were once the symbol and pride of \u2018Made in Italy\u2019, such as the Alfa Romeo, from 8.30 am on Sunday dozens of cars will arrive in Piazza Gramsci to park in designated areas, creating an open-air exhibition for visitors who may wish to browse among the various models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 11.30 am, the cars will set off on the traditional sightseeing tour of the hills surrounding the Valdelsa, which will conclude at 1 pm with lunch at a partner restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon, the town centre will be transformed into a huge \u201cPlay Castle\u201d with numerous events taking place at fixed or mobile stations. In Piazza Gramsci, the \u201cBottega di Geppetto\u201d will be set up, a workshop for making toys and sculptures from reclaimed wood (organised by Fantulin), where entertainers will involve the children in crafting items and games, turning them into little artisans for a day who can take home what they have made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also in the square, there will be the \u201cTrucca Bimbi\u201d, where children will have the chance to imagine themselves as \u201csuperheroes, princesses\u201d or perhaps their favourite animal (organised by \u201cLe Decorazioni di Lu\u201d), whilst Italo Pecoretti (\u201cTeatro delle Dodici Lune\u201d) will perform a puppet show entitled \u201cPulcinella in fabula\u201d (4 pm, with a repeat performance at 6 pm).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, a \u2018playful\u2019 atmosphere will take hold of Via Testaferrata, where a number of \u2018board games\u2019 for young and old alike will be set up (organised by \u2018Sistemi Ludici\u2019), whilst the other streets in the town centre will be part of the travelling show \u2018Travelling on a soap bubble\u2019, featuring the clown Ferux and his giant bubbles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 5 pm, meet in Piazza Kennedy for an unmissable show: \u201cThe Pillow Fight\u201d by Dispari Teatro. An event conceived in 1991, inspired by memories of those fierce pillow fights we used to have as children, between siblings, on the bed before going to sleep: the battle will be transformed into an explosive, epic, entertaining and highly engaging street performance. The event concludes on a giant, air-filled cushion, where you can swim, roll around, crawl and, of course, rest after all that exertion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
