On Saturday 26 September (8.00 pm) at the Salone di Santa Maria della Marca, an event to raise funds to cover the transport costs of 11 hospital beds (no longer in use) donated by the \u2018Del Campana Guazzesi\u2019 care home (S. Miniato)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eleven hand-cranked hospital beds no longer in use at the \u2018Del Campana Guazzesi\u2019 care home in San Miniato are to be donated to a care home for the elderly in the municipality of Calfa, in Moldova. To this end, the Misericordie of Castelfiorentino, Castelfranco di Sotto and San Gimignano have organised a fundraising dinner to cover transport costs, scheduled for Saturday 26 September at 8.00 pm in the hall of Santa Maria della Marca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The hospital beds, which were no longer in use at the San Miniato care home as they had been replaced by motorised ones, will be handed over on 1 October to the Mayor of Calfa, Alexandru Paliencu, in the presence of Alessandro Signorini, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova for Tuscany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The transport will be organised by the Misericordie of Castelfranco di Sotto and Castelfiorentino, the latter undertaking its third mission to Moldova. In January, two ambulances were already delivered: one to Calfa (which also serves two other municipalities) and one to Speia (this second mission carried out in collaboration with the Misericordia of San Gimignano), whilst in June a further twelve hand-cranked hospital beds were delivered to the municipality of Calfa, again donated by the \u2018Del Campana Guazzesi\u2019 care home (directed by Francesco Fariello) to the Municipality of Calfa, with the majority (10 beds) destined for a care home for the elderly and the remainder (two beds) for families with a disabled member. With the next mission, due to set off on 29 September, the total number of beds delivered<\/p>\n\n\n\n
in the Republic of Moldova will therefore rise to 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mayor of Calfa wished to send a message of thanks to the Misericordia of Castelfiorentino, and during Saturday\u2019s dinner he will join the event live from the Salone di Santa Maria della Marca<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Castelfiorentino Municipal Council \u2013 notes the Councillor for Social and Health Policies, Federica Parisi \u2013 invites all citizens to take part in this dinner, which has the noble aim of providing those in need with hospital beds that are no longer used by our social and healthcare facilities, and which are extremely useful to other organisations, bearing in mind that previously, only simple wooden beds were used at Calfa. For our part, we will continue to support all fundraising initiatives such as Saturday\u2019s event, so that this partnership, launched by the Misericordie of Castelfiorentino, San Gimignano and Castelfranco di Sotto, may continue into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saturday\u2019s dinner also provides an opportunity to celebrate Stefano Mattii\u2019s 50 years of service (1976\u20132026) in liturgical leadership (he also holds the post of Deputy Governor of the Misericordia di Castelfiorentino), having always been at the forefront of coordinating these initiatives of international cooperation and solidarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
