In the upper historic center many artistic and handcrafted nativity scenes set up for the holidays. Of note are the illuminated nativity scene at the Pieve and “A New Life,” which involved more than 700 pupils from the Istituto Comprensivo<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They can be seen at any hour, but of course it is only at dusk that they take on evocative contours, as befits after all the atmosphere of Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are the small and large masterpieces of the “Street of Nativity Scenes,” scattered along the main streets of the upper historic center, which again this year presents a wide range of artistic and handcrafted nativity scenes that are absolutely unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the Nativity Scene of Lights, which surrounds much of “Piovanelli Park” (clearly visible from the road at the back of the Pieve di Sant’Ippolito e Biagio) to the wooden nativity scene at the foot of the Church of San Lorenzo. From miniature nativity scenes to imposing ones, with characters over a meter tall; from those enclosed behind a grate to the small masterpieces of the “Clay Course,” in the Loggia in Piazza del Popolo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Via Tilli, a stop is almost a must at the nativity scene “A New Life,” created by the children of Castelfiorentino’s preschools and primary schools (more than 700 pupils involved), inspired by the technique of artist Brunivo Buttarelli through an interdisciplinary school project that kicked off after the artist’s widespread exhibition. A “new life” that is not only that of the Child born in Bethlehem, but also “that which allows inert or discarded materials to find a new value of use in a creative work.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Street of Cribs-which is promoted by the “In the Shadow of Membrino” Association under the patronage of the municipality-will remain open until Sunday, Jan. 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
