On Sunday 30 June (Piazza Gramsci), owners and enthusiasts of the Fiat model designed by Bertone, which since its first version (1972) enjoyed extraordinary success in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The myth of the “spider” as a symbol of freedom and carefree living, in a car that made history in the 1970s and 1980s. This is the story of the Fiat X 1\/9, designed by Bertone, for which a gathering of owners and enthusiasts from all over Tuscany, organised by the “Gruppo Fiat 500 Valdelsa” in collaboration with Club X 1\/9 Italia, is scheduled to take place on Sunday 30 June in Castelfiorentino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative, which enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, will start at 8.00 a.m. in Piazza Gramsci with registration and the display of these cars (car park opposite the Theatre, where no-parking signs have already been posted). Afterwards, at 11.00 a.m., the cars are scheduled to depart for a tour of the surrounding hills, returning at lunchtime. At 4.00 p.m., the prize-giving ceremony is scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First presented to the public in 1972 as an evolution of the coup\u00e9 version of the Fiat 128, the X 1\/9 reached a top speed of 170 km\/h at the time of its debut on the car market, and cost 1.8 million lire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly to the Fiat 124 spider, the X 1\/9 was also an extraordinary success in the USA, where these cars were particularly popular. The first batch of 10,000 cars sold out quickly, and in 1975 production was almost entirely dedicated to the USA. Later, the UK also became an important outlet and in 1978 the 100,000-car mark was reached. Production of the X 1\/9 ceased at the end of the 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n
