Remembrance Day<\/strong>
On the occasion of the \u201cRemembrance Day\u201d, the Compagnia Melarancio proposes the show \u201cJourney to Auschwitz A\/R\u201d, which is inspired by the long journey made in 2011 by Gimmi Basilotta together with other \u201cpilgrims\u201d, from Piedmont to Poland, to retrace on foot the deportation journey that in 1944 took twenty-six Jews from Cuneo from Borgo San Dalmazio to Auschwitz. That pilgrimage, realised by Basilotta as part of the \u201cPassodopopasso\u201d project, also proved to be an opportunity to reflect deeply and discuss the dynamics of that tragedy, which unfortunately affected millions of innocent people, and to acquire a greater awareness that remembrance is not only a necessity, but also a duty, out of respect for those who lived and suffered history.
Promoted by the Fondazione Teatro del Popolo in collaboration with ANPI, the Municipality of Castelfiorentino and Giallo Mare Minimal Teatro, the performance is open to all citizens.

Cinema Mario Monicelli<\/strong>
In the film \u201cMaria\u201d, Chilean director Pablo Larrain tries his hand at another female biopic, this time focusing on the figure of Maria Callas, the most famous opera singer of the 20th century. The film recounts the last days of Maria Callas in 1970s Paris. \u201cMaria\u201d has received 1 Golden Globes nomination and 2 Critics Choice Award nominations.

Profondo Rosso<\/strong>
The review \u201cThrough the eyes of the killer\u201d, dedicated to Italian-style detective stories from the 1960s to the present day, this evening features a true cult film by Dario Argento. Musician Marc Daly involuntarily witnesses the murder of parapsychologist Helga Ullman, but cannot see the murderer’s face. He decides to investigate together with journalist Gianna Brezzi; the clues lead to the home of a writer, but she is murdered before they arrive.

Ravensbruck, the anteroom of hell<\/strong>
On the occasion of the “Remembrance Day”, a public meeting to talk about one of the symbolic places of Nazi cruelty, mostly destined to house women and children.
From being a re-education camp for political dissidents and traitors to the ideal of the Aryan race, over time it became a place of mass deportations and death, as well as torture and medical experiments.

Saturday 1 February<\/strong>
Feast of Saint Verdiana<\/strong>
The celebrations for the birth of Castelfiorentino’s holy patron will begin in the morning, with the opening of the Sanctuary of the same name to visits, as well as the possibility of accessing the cell that welcomed Verdiana Attavanti for 35 years. Masses celebrated during the day will culminate with the solemn procession that will lead the Saint from the Sanctuary to the Collegiate Church of Saints Lawrence and Leonard, passing through the streets of the upper and lower historic centre.
As per tradition, Piazza Kennedy, Viale Potente and Via Timignano will be set up with the festive market.
On this occasion, the usual Saturday morning fruit and vegetable market will be moved along Via Masini and Via Piave.

Saturday 1 February from 10:00 a.m.
Market in the market<\/strong>
Initiative by Lami Social Club, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Verdiana.
From 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. market of local handicrafts, music by DJ Cace, and good panzerotti accompanied by mulled wine in the Lami square.
Aperitif at 7:00 p.m. with producers Maite Distilleria Libera and from 10:00 p.m. music exhibition by Diogenes and live performance by Marsplaneto. Free admission.
Kitchen open with a la carte menu for lunch and dinner.

Black Truffle<\/strong>
The month of February opens with one of Casa Selektia’s exclusive events; the undisputed star is the black truffle. Enhancing it to the full in an exceptional menu will be Chef Enrico Menna. Menu at 60\u20ac, drinks not included. Possibility of tasting three delicious glasses at 15\u20ac.

Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 February<\/strong>
Cinema Mario Monicelli<\/strong>
“L’Abbaglio”, a film directed by Roberto And\u00f2, is set in 1860, when Giuseppe Garibaldi and the Mille start their adventure that will unite Italy, starting from Quarto. Together with him there are young enthusiastic idealists and his loyal officers, among which stands the Palermo colonel Vincenzo Giordano Orsini. Once in Sicily, precisely in Marsala, the Thousand clash with the Bourbon army, which exceeds them by far in number of men, reason why they can not break into Palermo. Garibaldi, however, is not willing to surrender so he comes up with a plan: Colonel Orsini together with a group of wounded soldiers will have to act as a diversion, convincing the Swiss commander of the royal army, Jean-Luc Von Mechel, that Garibaldi is retreating inside the island. Will the ingenious plan of Garibaldi succeed?
