A photographic reportage on Trapani’s “Procession of the mysteries”, a centuries-old tradition of Spanish origin representing the passion and death of Christ. This is the calling card of the exhibition curated by Marco Mangini, Antonio D’Ambrosio and Giancarlo Biondi of the “Giglio Rosso” Photographic Group, which will be inaugurated at the Oratory of San Carlo (via Testaferrata) on Saturday 19 April, at 5:00 p.m. (free admission).
The initiative, which enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, is fully in line with the interests of the Group, which is committed to raising awareness of local customs and traditions that have ancient roots. In this case, the theme chosen by the curators concerns an event held every Good Friday in Trapani, along a route that lasts almost 24 hours without interruption.
The protagonists, in fact, are the “mysteries”, or rather twenty groups representing as many moments of the Passion of Christ, recounted in the exhibition through thirty-six images and a slide show where the photographers wanted to highlight – as Sabrina Fioravanti emphasised – “their collecting of moments, hoarding them\u2019, as they walk \u2018through the crowd with the light step of an eyed predator”.
The inauguration of the exhibition will be attended by Culture Councillor Franco Spina.
“The Procession of the Mysteries”, stresses Councillor Spina, \u201cis to think back to all the Easter Fridays of my life, both real and symbolic, to my origins and to the \u201dturf\u2019 from which I come. Masterful black-and-white, these impressions of faces, details, moments, let all the emotionality of the rite and a different sacredness shine through, one that is not religious or divine in nature, but relates to that “small”, powerful, all-human sacredness. Thanks to Marco, Antonio and Giancarlo and in general to the entire “Giglio Rosso” Photographic Group (a precious resource not only for Castelfiorentino) for this new gift, made of unseen glances, the scent of home, humanity and beauty”.
The exhibition will remain open until 27 April with the following opening hours: every day from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturdays and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n
