It has been a symbol of freedom for entire generations. A two-wheeled vehicle with simple, functional mechanics, as was fitting for the time. And at the same time, it was affordable, accessible and loved by everyone, starting with young people. This is the calling card of the legendary “Vespa”, designed by Piaggio way back in 1946, and which we will be able to admire in dozens of original versions on Sunday 29 March in Piazza Gramsci during “Vespe a Primavera”, the 1st Vespa Club Castelfiorentino Rally, which also counts as the 3rd round of the regional championship, featuring gymkhana races, music and a double acrobatic display with “Nicola l’Impennatore”.
Over 200 participants are expected for an event that the “Vespa Club” organising committee has chosen to organise with a focus on the exhibition aspect rather than the “classic” touring format, both to give the public plenty of time to browse the various models and to allow “Vespa enthusiasts” the opportunity to get to know one another, exchange views on their vehicles, share tips on proper maintenance, and so on. From 9:30 a.m., participants will be welcomed at the registration desk, where they will also collect a souvenir of the event and park their “Vespas” in the designated areas. Two “special” exhibitions are also planned, curated by the President and Treasurer of the Vespa Club Castelfiorentino.
Next (10:00 a.m.), the first demonstration featuring “slalom races” by the “Vespa Club” Castelfiorentino (which has achieved impressive results at regional level) and at 11:00 a.m. everyone will be holding their breath for the show by “Nicola l’Impennatore”, who has been touring Italy and abroad for many years now, performing daring stunts with skill and experience. In short, a show not to be missed
At 12:00 p.m., an aperitif is scheduled, followed at 12:30 p.m. by a Lami Social Club lunch featuring a sandwich, porchetta, water, beer or wine, and coffee. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Please also note that both the gymkhana race and the show by Nicola l’Impennatore will be repeated in the afternoon, at 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. respectively.
“In the space of three years,” emphasises Alessandro Dimasi, President of the Vespa Club Castelfiorentino, “we have already exceeded 200 members in our Castelfiorentino Club, proving the fact – as I always try to reiterate – that teamwork divides the tasks and multiplies the success. “This result would not have been possible without the invaluable contribution of the entire Executive Committee, starting with its Vice-President, Salvatore Spinapolice, alongside Treasurer Claudio Martini and Secretary Renzo Tani. We are delighted with the response we have received for Sunday’s event, as evidenced by the registration of hundreds of enthusiasts just like us”.
“An event steeped in nostalgia,” emphasises Franco Spina, Councillor for Tourism and Events, “where visitors will have the chance to admire a wide array of vintage “Vespa” models, but also an event that is sure to spark curiosity and amazement thanks to attractions such as the gymkhana race and Nicola’s eagerly awaited acrobatic performance. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the president of the Castelfiorentino Vespa Club, Alessandro Dimasi, who, together with the entire board of the association, has put in a great deal of organisational effort to bring this event to fruition, bringing a breath of joy and light-heartedness to Castelfiorentino”.
