On Saturday, September 5 (at 9:15 p.m.) in Piazza Gramsci, a certificate will be presented to all those who have distinguished themselves in various sports.
The value of sports as a foundational element of a community. It is in this spirit that on Saturday, September 5 (at 9:15 p.m.) in Piazza Gramsci, the second edition of the “Castellano Sports Award” will take place—an event sponsored by the Municipality of Castelfiorentino during which the municipal administration will present awards to all those who have distinguished themselves in the various sports practiced in the area: from cycling to basketball, from volleyball to soccer (including women’s soccer), from kickboxing to tug-of-war, from track and field to artistic gymnastics, and so on.
An evening to once again highlight the importance the municipality places on sports—not only for social life and relationships (as new friendships often form through sports)—but also as an opportunity for personal growth and the development of character and personality. This award also aims to draw attention to the numerous sports disciplines present in the area, which are practiced thanks to a widespread network of clubs—supported by hundreds of volunteers—and the availability of modern facilities and equipment that are increasingly adapted to new needs.
The Castellano Sports Award, which consists of a plaque, was selected based on nominations from the recipients’ respective sports associations and will be presented not only to accomplished professionals but also to young talents who have achieved significant results this year, as well as to administrators and coaches who have distinguished themselves through their dedication and passion.
The Mayor, Francesca Giannì, and the Deputy Mayor in charge of Sports, Gianluca D’Alessio, will speak at Saturday’s ceremony.

It is an award for the most deserving individuals and emerging talents, but it also serves as a recognition of the passion and dedication through which the most authentic values of sports are conveyed: the understanding that certain achievements come through commitment and perseverance, respect, fairness, and team spirit. Sports have always been seen as a time for coming together—an activity of paramount importance for young people and children, with significant social implications as well. This fosters a sense of community, bringing together businesses, schools, and a broad network of organizations that has always been one of our region’s greatest strengths.”
