A cycling race reserved for very young people (from 5 to 12 years old), to be held on mountain bikes. This is the calling card of the IV Kristian Sbaragli Fans Club Trophy which will be held at the Bike Park in via Calamandrei (near via Sant’Antonio) on Saturday 31 October, starting at 3.30 p.m.
Organized by the Castelfiorentino Cycling Society with the patronage of the Municipality, the competition will feature, as mentioned, the “new generation” of youth cycling, but there will also be a space dedicated to all children and young people who wish to explore their passion for cycling for the first time. In fact, it will be the Cycling Society itself that will make a certain number of bicycles available to them, so that aspiring cyclists can experience their first rides on a grass route away from traffic.
Six categories (from G1 to G6) will participate in the IV Kristian Sbaragli Trophy, along a track created inside the bike park (each with a different number of laps, depending on age). At the end there will be the awards ceremony.
As you may recall, the “Bike Park” was created a few years ago by redeveloping an area of approximately 5,500 square meters (demarcated with a wooden fence, and creating hillocks) to stimulate sustainable mobility among the new generations, and at the same time bring them closer to a sport that has brought great satisfaction to Castelfiorentino in recent years, thanks to professionals such as Kristian Sbaragli and Alberto Bettiol.
“An event is back to win a trophy named after Kristian – observes the Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Sport, Gianluca D’Alessio – one of our most authoritative representatives of this sport, a champion who for some years has been committed to spreading the passion for cycling among young people, while at the same time trying to encourage everyone, children and young people, to get closer to cycling. A way to get used to a healthier and more environmentally friendly lifestyle”.
