Cinderella and Crudelia Demon. Snow White and the evil Queen Grimilde. Captain Hook and Peter Pan. The Queen of Hearts and the Cheshire Cat. These are just some of the characters that will come to life on Sunday 18 February in “A Castle of Fairy Tales”, a Carnival party that will take place in the lower historical centre of Castelfiorentino (shops open) to the delight of all children.
To locate them easily, and immerse yourself in the magical world of their fantastic stories, just turn up at 3.00 p.m. in Piazza Kennedy, where all participants will be given a “map” with the various locations, scattered throughout the streets of the centre. Afterwards, one will be able to move about freely, looking for one’s favourite and then see them all.
There will be the “Cinderella Ball”, with the “stepsisters” doing everything they can to get to the palace on time; there will be the “Mad Hatter”, the protagonist of “Alice in Wonderland”, intent on juggling at the tea table; there will be Aladdin and Jasmine with their flying carpet; the “fairies” with “Sleeping Beauty”, the characters from Pinocchio, and so on.
The end of the shows and animations will be, as usual, in Piazza Gramsci, where a stage will be set up and the “most original masked family” will be awarded a prize. Also in Piazza Gramsci, the game “Defeat the Villain” and the traditional “Confetti War” are scheduled. Musical accompaniment is also planned, the “Bandaccia” will break in at a certain time, the AVIS stall for snacks, candyfloss, and many other surprises.
“The Carnival celebration – observes the Mayor, Alessio Falorni – is certainly one of those most loved by children, who love to disguise themselves in order to identify with the characters that most spark their imagination. It is a not-to-be-missed appointment to experience our city centre, which is renewed every year thanks to the precious contribution of the associations that have always collaborated in preparing the programme, for a day of fun. I would therefore like to thank all those who, for various reasons, have worked hard for this festival, and I invite all families to participate with their children”.
“A Castle of Fairy Tales”, which enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino (sponsor Ente Cambiano Scpa) is promoted by Amici di Castello, Prociv Arci, Avis, Auser, Trivia APS, Unicoop members section, and CCN Tre Piazze association. As in the past, this year too the organising committee launches the appeal “No to gas canisters, Yes to confetti and streamers” to protect the environment.
In case of bad weather, the Carnival will be postponed to the following Sunday with the same programme. Any communications and/or real time updates will be disseminated via social networks.
