CastelloFobia, where fear is… MAGIC!
The witches of Salem and the cursed Sirens. The wickedness of Voldemort and the disturbing ambiguity of Gollum. The fearsome Queen Grimilde and the character of Beetlejuice. On Thursday 31 October, the historical centre of Castelfiorentino will be transformed into “CastelloFobia. Where fear is… magic”, which will repeat the double format (afternoon and evening) this year as well, inviting all citizens to participate in this event, which is increasingly popular with young people.
From the shopping borough to the upper part, the centre of Castelfiorentino will become a huge “natural stage” with events open to everyone, including children, who will be able to walk around the shops displaying the “Castellofobia” logo from 6:00 p.m. onwards, asking the fateful question: “Trick or treat?”, and collect their treat from the shopkeeper.
At the same time, the “Truccabimbi” (children’s make-up) station will open its doors, and it will be possible to come across “creepy storytellers”, flash mobs and “horror’-style” dancing choreographies, set-ups and themed music. To follow, from 7:30 p.m. to 9: p.m., the “street food” section in Piazza Gramsci with three stands, and the active presence of some of the centre’s activities with refreshments and outdoor aperitifs.
The “Scariest Escape Room Ever” will instead start in the upper town centre from 9:00 p.m., where it will be possible to come across monsters and nightmarish situations: from dragons to witches, from fortune tellers to enchantresses, from voodo evil to “horror” characters from the most famous films, also recently released. Those who wish to, can locate them by means of a special “map”, and sharpen their wits by solving a few riddles linked to the characters. But be careful: because the path is littered with other totally unpredictable “scares”. Once you have completed the map with the right answers, you can take part in a final prize draw in Piazza Gramsci (scheduled for around 11:00 pm).
“CastelloFobia”, emphasises Culture Councillor Franco Spina, “has for several years now been one of the events most appreciated by the young people of Castelfiorentino, especially the children, who love to dress up regardless of the specificity of this occasion, which this year, thanks to the creativity of the Trivia actors coordinated by Michele Cucchiara, manages to combine the theme of fear with that of magic in a virtuous manner. A festival that involves the entire historic centre, from the commercial area to the upper part, which also allows us to rediscover particularly evocative corners of our town. My thanks also go to all the associations that collaborate in the organisation every year, and are committed to ensuring that our town centre is experienced and participated in”.
