A show to support the children housed in the Cas (Emergency reception centres) centres of the Unione dei Comuni Circondario Empolese Valdelsa. This is the noble aim of “Mercy is of the restless”, which will be staged at the Teatro del Popolo in Castelfiorentino on Tuesday 20 May, at 9:15 p.m.
The evening, organised by the Coordinamento delle Misericordie Empolese Valdelsa Valdarno, sponsored by the Unione dei Comuni Empolese Valdelsa, the Federazione Regionale delle Misericordie della Toscana, the Associazione Nazionale Città dei Presepi and the Ente Cambiano Spca, will see on stage David Riondino, singer-songwriter and writer, who will interpret the restlessness, the transposition of a feeling that belongs to the contemporary world, together with the actress Benedetta Giuntini in the role of the Misericordia (accordionist Emiliano Benassai).
The text, written by Davide Rondoni, poet and author, develops an intense dialogue between Mercy and Restlessness, a contemporary reading of a virtue with roots in the past.
“We are happy to host this show”, observes the Mayor, Francesca Giannì, “in the splendid setting of our Teatro del Popolo, because we fully share the objective of offering concrete support to children fleeing wars. Innocent victims of conflicts that have destroyed their homes, devastated entire families, taken away their future in the land of their birth. I therefore thank the Misericordie Empolese Valdelsa, together with all those who collaborated in the organisation of this evening”.
The proceeds of the performance will be donated to the children victims of the war housed in the Cas centres of the Unione dei Comuni. The suggested donation is 15 euros and places can be reserved by calling the theatre ticket office on +39 0571 633482.
