Yesterday afternoon the inauguration of the new multi-purpose facility
that will allow people to play sports and enjoy volleyball, five-a-side football and tennis on the sand.
Who said that you have to go to the beach to play sports on the sand? As of yesterday, the Castelfiorentino sports area is also ‘beach’. In fact, the new beach volleyball, five-a-side football and tennis court was inaugurated, allowing all enthusiasts to take advantage of a new multi-purpose facility, especially during the summer season. A further opportunity, therefore, to play outdoor sports and above all have fun, and then perhaps relax in the bar area, enlarged and renovated with a new wooden roof.
Created by the Castelfiorentino Polisportiva I’ìGiglio sports club, the “beach” court is located near the Tennis Club/Padel in Viale Roosevelt 26, and can be used for matches or even tournaments, possibly opening up to new sports disciplines according to the preferences of the moment.
The mayor, Alessio Falorni, the councillor for sport, Simone Bruchi, and the president of the Polisportiva I’Giglio, Irene Agnorelli, took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. After the inauguration, the first matches were immediately played.
“Sport is not only agonism,” observes the President of the Polisportiva I’Giglio, Irene Agnorelli, “sport is fun, movement and social and that is why we are enthusiastic about having made this investment, which allows us to increase the sports facilities in the village for all age groups. This has involved a great commitment on the part of volunteers, councillors and members who have worked hard to finish the beach field and not only that, even the bar area has been supplemented with a super wooden roof. I thank the entire Polisportiva for this achievement. This new space will be an added value for our village.”
“We are happy that our sports area has been enriched by this structure,” observes the Sports Councillor, Simone Bruchi, “which marks a decisive leap in quality, not only in the number of disciplines that can be practised there, but also because it can be used for the athletic training of other Polisportiva disciplines. Finally, the function it plays in social life and relationships should be emphasised, because playing volleyball, tennis or five-a-side football on the sand enhances the recreational aspect of sport, offering the opportunity to socialise and make new friends. For this, I would like to thank the Polisportiva together with all the volunteers who were involved in its realisation. I am certain that it will meet with the approval of everyone, especially the young people”.
