Place: Ridotto del Teatro del Popolo Tuesday 26 November at 9:30 p.m. Cinema Mario Monicelli “The Boy with Pink Pants”, the film directed by Margherita Ferri, takes its title from a facebook page created in 2012 to harass a fifteen-year-old, Andrea Spezzacatena (Samuele Carrino). His mother Teresa (Claudia Pandolfi) one day misses a wash and the pants she gave to Andrea for her birthday, come out of the washing machine dyed pink. He doesn’t worry much and the next day decides to wear them at school. The pants trigger the reaction of a group of comrades who targets him with continuous humiliations. When the “Pink Pants” Facebook page was born, verbal violence online knows no limits. Andrea, desperate, decides to take his own life on 20 November 2012. His is the first in a long series of suicides caused by cyberbullying in Italy. The second chapter will be set about 30 years after the first and sees as protagonist Lucius, son of Lucilla and nephew of Commodus, saved by Massimo Decimo Meridio at the end of the first film. Years after witnessing the tragic death of the revered hero Massimo at the hands of his perfidious uncle, Lucio finds himself forced to fight in the Colosseum after his homeland is conquered by two tyrannical emperors, who now rule Rome: Caracalla and Geta. With his heart burning with anger and the fate of the Empire hanging by a thread, Lucio must face dangers and enemies, rediscovering in his past the strength and honor necessary to bring back the glory of Rome to his people.
