From Monday 3 to Sunday 9 February
| Monday 3 February at 6:00 p.m. Inauguration of widespread exhibition On 3 February 1945, a group of volunteers gathered in front of the Teatro del Popolo to leave for the Gothic Line and liberate Italy from Nazifascism. Of this group of 119 men, as many as 73 were from Castelfiorentino. On the 80th anniversary of the departure of the volunteers for the Liberation Struggle, an exhibition will be inaugurated with the images that immortalised those moments. Place: Piazza Gramsci. Tuesday 4 February at 9:30 p.m. Cinema Mario Monicelli “L’Abbaglio”, a film directed by Roberto Andò, is set in 1860, when Giuseppe Garibaldi and the Mille start their adventure that will unite Italy, starting from Quarto. Together with him there are young enthusiastic idealists and his loyal officers, among which stands the Palermo colonel Vincenzo Giordano Orsini. Once in Sicily, precisely in Marsala, the Thousand clash with the Bourbon army, which exceeds them by far in number of men, reason why they can not break into Palermo. Garibaldi, however, is not willing to surrender so he comes up with a plan: Colonel Orsini together with a group of wounded soldiers will have to act as a diversion, convincing the Swiss commander of the royal army, Jean-Luc Von Mechel, that Garibaldi is retreating inside the island. Wednesday 5 February at 9:15 p.m. The House with the Laughing Windows The review “Through the eyes of the killer”, dedicated to Italian-style detective stories from the 1960s to the present day, this evening features the film by Pupi Avati. Stefano arrives in a small village on the plains of Emilia. He has been hired to restore a fresco by Buono Legnani, the “painter of agonies”, who died several years earlier in mysterious circumstances. The work to be worked on depicts the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian and will in some way be the keystone of Stefano’s personal investigations into the dead painter, following tragic events that affect the inhabitants of the village.
