Fourteen shows ranging from brilliant comedy to comic acts, from memoir to drama, placing themselves “in the furrow of the age-old tradition of the performing arts of Castelfiorentino, City of Comedians, Musicians and Storytellers”. This is the calling card of the Castelnuovo d’Elsa Theatre Season, which will be presented on Friday 8 November (9:30 p.m.) at the hamlet’s Theatre, in Via Roma.

The evening, coordinated by Moira Falai, will be attended by the Mayor of Castelfiorentino, Francesca Giannì, the Councillor for Culture, Franco Spina, and finally Francesco Gallo, in the presence of some of the theatre companies that have collaborated in the realisation of the programme, starting with the Gat Teatro Association of Castelnuovo, which for over 40 years has been committed to both the production and the diffusion of theatre culture, especially among young people.

In this regard, a video will also be shown during the presentation on the activities carried out by the Gat and on the situation of small theatres, which especially in communities of ancient tradition such as Castelnuovo act as “a place of aggregation and opening of minds”, “a workshop where children and adults work together to build something, to offer moments of entertainment and culture, and to excite the public”. In this regard, specific projects aimed at children and young people will be illustrated.

“Preserving realities such as this one”, stressed the Mayor, Francesca Giannì, “is a priority of the Municipal Administration, which chooses to invest in this popular democratic culture every year, to do more and more theatre among people, for people. The social, aggregative and cultural value of this little hidden gem is therefore a boast for our entire community, a heritage not only of the hamlet but of the whole of Castelfiorentino”.

“It is a source of pride”, observes the Councillor for Culture, Franco Spina, “that the enchanting hamlet of Castelnuovo is confirmed as one of our most fruitful garrisons of theatre culture in our town of comedians and storytellers, born from the vision of those daring young people who in the 1940s gave life to this ”place of social aggregation and the opening of minds and growth for all. We are thrilled to continue this journey born of hope, which has been able and knows how to grasp the strength and educational value of theatre across generations. Because theatre is an expression of community, participatory dialogue, and sentimental education for spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional and social growth. Because theatre pontificates and opens minds. It creates culture, democracy, beauty”.
