A “fairytale” walk dedicated to discovering the “Old parish church”, the oldest church in Castelfiorentino, which dates back to 1036. This is the proposal of the Vallesiana Municipal Library, which, in collaboration with Toscana Hiking Experience, is organising a short excursion on Sunday 9 November for children aged 4 to 10, who will have the opportunity to learn more about the history of their town from a different perspective, through places less known even to the inhabitants themselves.

Promoted as part of “Fuori luogo”, a series of travelling narratives that this year focuses on the open countryside, the excursion follows a circular route of about 4.5 km (start and finish are the same) on partly paved and partly dirt roads.

The meeting point is at the public gardens on Viale Potente at 10:00 a.m. (entrance on Largo Boccherini) and the return is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

Participation is free. Reservations for the event can be made directly at the Vallesiana Municipal Library, or via an online form at the following link: https://h7.cl/1dwYA

The “Old parish church” (Pieve di Sant’Ippolito della Corte d’Elsa) is, as we said, the oldest religious settlement in Castelfiorentino, but its original structure was almost entirely demolished at the end of the 17th century. In its place, an oratory was put into operation in 1706 and later, in 1725, a small chapel was built, which still exists today. The building, attached to a farmhouse, is located in the Vallone area and is privately owned.
