From Chromosaurus to ‘fire animals’ many shows for the Magic Festival. In the streets of the centre market of enchantments on both Saturday and Sunday (with mini theatre marathon).
OPEN SHOPS – FREE ADMISSION
From the gigantic ‘Chromosaur’ skeleton to ‘fire animals’. From mime theatre to perspective games. And then street food, handicrafts, exhibitions. The grand finale is approaching for “In/Canti e Banchi”, an open-air magic festival that will reach its climax on Saturday evening with shows of illusionism, manipulation, and wild touring bands, while on Sunday a “mini theatre marathon” will enrich the market of enchantments, already present in the streets of the centre since Saturday morning.
Starting at 9 p.m., the lower part of the town will be invaded by the “band molleggiata”, a musical show in which musicians swing, twirl and dance while playing, alternating with a giant “cromosaurus” that will wander through the crowd, living a life of its own, and moving through a complex mechanism of balances and counterweights.
In Piazza Gramsci, fire and figure theatre will be the protagonists with the “Cerini Circus”, the only one of its kind in the world with fire animals, from dancing salamanders to bioluminescent aquatics, and dozens of “ancient games” to offer young and old alike the chance to have fun as they did in the past. Climbing up the “grande Leccio” (large holm oak tree), a minute photography station will allow visitors to be immortalised with the technique of a century ago, while at the former arena there will be the “bagatto prodigies” of Messer lo Stramagante.
In Piazza del Popolo, magic and tango will be the ingredients of the ‘Tango magic’ show, a mix of body, enchantment and elegance, while in Piazza stanze Operaie, Prof. Bustric will perform an illusionism and pantomime show. Finally, in Via Tilli, it will be possible to come across a magician skilled with cards (avoid playing against him) and the ‘lumì fairy’ who will give light, smiles, messages.
Sunday 28 May opens with a craft market in the streets of the centre and – from 12 noon – the ‘food festival’ in Piazza Gramsci. Twelve food trucks will delight the most demanding palates (from Angus burgers to Sicilian arancini, from Neapolitan fried pizza to fagotto di’ Chianti, from Abruzzo arrostici to fried coccoli, etc.) with numerous craft beers (all gluten free) and cocktail bars. In the afternoon, from 4.00 p.m., the mini theatre marathon will start, an itinerant circuit consisting of six different theatre stations (two in the former arena gardens, two in Piazza del Popolo, one in Via Attavanti/Porta al vento, one in Via San Lorenzo 14) that will repeat every 30 minutes until 6.30 p.m. From 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. there will be the presentation of participation certificates to the companies, followed by a short theatrical performance.
