Baby champions grow up. And who knows if one day some of them may aspire to wear the professional jersey, retracing the exploits of an Alberto Bettiol or a Kristian Sbaragli. In the meantime, to get an idea, all you have to do is come to Castelfiorentino (FI) where, on the afternoon of Saturday 17 June, one hundred and thirty children aged between six and twelve from all over Tuscany will compete in the 29th Gran Premio Banca Cambiano Spa, a cycling race organised by the Castelfiorentino Cycling Club.
The start is set at 4.00 p.m. at the Bar Pizzeria Gallo Nero in Via Duca D’Aosta (sponsor of the event), and the route is divided into two tracks, assigned according to the categories that correspond to the age of the participants, with a minimum of 1 km (6 years old) to a maximum of 15 km (12 years old).
The first track, which will be run by children aged six to seven, comprises Via Duca D’Aosta, Viale Di Vittorio, Via Marzabotto; the second track, assigned to children aged eight to twelve, comprises Via Duca D’Aosta, Via Primo Maggio, Via Duca d’Aosta, Viale Di Vittorio, Via Marzabotto.
The meeting point for all participants is set for 3.00 p.m. at Bar Pizzeria Gallo Nero.
Please note that in the streets concerned (from 2.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. on Saturday) there is a ban on transit and parking, with forced removal of any vehicles left parked illegally, with limited possibility of transit between the end of one race and the start of the next. “Castelfiorentino,’ stresses the Councillor for Sport, Simone Bruchi, ‘has always welcomed these competitions between very young people practising this sport, offering our availability so that they can be disputed in safety in some of the streets of the provincial capital. In recent years, cycling has given our community great satisfaction, and all these events are therefore a source of pride for our municipality, as well as a valuable showcase for our territory. My thanks therefore go to all the managers and volunteers of the Castelfiorentino Cycling Club, without whom it would be impossible to organise these initiatives’.
