Sunday 18 June (9 p.m.) free conference by Dr. Francesco Ulivieri on the pitfalls of the Net, organised by the association ‘Sveliamo La Marca’ in collaboration with the Certaldo Boccaccio Lions Club.

Do we think we really know everything about the Net? The possible pitfalls that might be hidden in a click? Would we know how to recognise an attacker or a scam? To get an answer to these questions, all you have to do is come on Sunday evening (18 June at 9 p.m.) to the open-air space at the ancient Church of the Monastery of Santa Maria della Marca (via delle Monache), where Dr. Francesco Ulivieri will hold a free conference entitled “Let’s interconnect… but with our heads!”, a meeting on internet security: history, laws, dangers and threats.
The evening, which is promoted by the association “Sveliamo La Marca” and the Lions Club Certaldo Boccaccio with the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, will deal with a topic that is as topical as ever: the multiple pitfalls of the web, in order to navigate more safely and consciously on the web. Filled with anecdotes and quotations, some of them amusing, the meeting aims to make everyone, young adults and the elderly, aware of the deceptions, manipulations and possible traps that can be encountered when connecting to the Internet, as the use of mobile phones and portable devices is now frequent.
The speaker, Dr. Francesco Ulivieri, is a member of the Lions Club and the new president of the Certaldo Boccaccio section. As part of the Lions, he is responsible for a vast information campaign on the risks of bullying on the web, especially aimed at young people. He has more than one hundred presentations on the subject to his credit and for this he received the prestigious international Melvin Jones Fellow award.
“We are very pleased – observes Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Culture, Claudia Centi – to patronise this initiative, for which I hope for wide participation because it is indeed a delicate topic, which concerns everyone, from young people to the elderly. I would therefore like to thank the Sveliamo La Marca association, which has always been attentive to promoting quality events that also have the merit of keeping attention high on the historical-artistic value of this monastic complex, and the Certaldo Boccaccio Lions Club, for their concrete contribution to this evening’.
Please note that in the event of bad weather, the initiative will be held inside the Church.
