A show to laugh, but also to reflect. Which begins with a wake and ends inexorably in a series of surreal situations, halfway between destiny and madness. This is the calling card of “Le Chiavi dell’Aldilà”, which the Contrad’Arte company will stage at the Teatro del Popolo in Castelfiorentino on Sunday 4 May 2025 (6 p.m., repeated at 9 p.m.).

The show, inspired by the novel of the same name ‘Le chiavi dell’Aldilà’ (the first book of the trilogy ‘Le cronache dell’ALdiverso’, written by Michele Cucchiara, who also edited the screenplay) is produced by the association Trivia Aps, and is presented as a musical in which we steer clear of abused themes such as love betrayals, red roses and throbbing hearts, dragging the spectator on a journey that will take him to four otherworldly realms where he will meet Cleopatra complaining about clichés, Marilyn Monroe in an identity crisis, or Caesar still sulking over Brutus.

Again, it will be possible to come across somewhat bizarre characters, such as two twin brothers, a rather original grandfather, and a witch used to the usual appearances. Thus, between a biting joke and an absurd encounter, one will find oneself faced with existential questions, impossible choices, and jaw-dropping twists and turns (which may even bring a tear to one’s eye).

‘Sunday’s show,’ observes the Councillor for Culture, Franco Spina, “is a compelling mix of theatre, music, dance and lots of fun. A theatrical musical – that under the direction of Contrad’Arte and in particular Michele Cucchiara – sees the collaboration with some associations of our territory involving no less than eighty performers and actors who will take turns on the stage of the theatre, confirming a widespread and shared passion for the theatre, that in Castelfiorentino boasts ancient roots and that as Administration we will continue to encourage”.

The show (the sixth of the Contrad’Arte Company) enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, and has been realised in collaboration with the Obiettivo Danza dance school, the Auser Filo Argento, the Circolo Arci Praticelli, and the Notti Magiche.

Tickets are still available and can be purchased directly from the theatre’s ticket office (opening hours: Tuesday and Thursday 5.00 p.m -7.00 p.m, Saturday 9.30 a.m-12.30 p.m; tel. +39 0571.638442)
