Saturday, March 12 at the Oratory of San Carlo opening of the exhibition,
“where the beach becomes a mirror of the Italian soul, the purest and most genuine one”,
“When the sun begins to beat down harder, when the asphalt of the city begins to flicker, the Italians, after a long, gray winter, know where to take refuge. Italians go to the sea. The cars fill up to bursting with bags and duffels, toys, chairs and dart towards the coast: this is how summer begins”.
This is the business card of “L’Italiano medio al mare”, a photographic exhibition curated by Andrea Migliorini of the Gruppo Fotografico “Giglio Rosso”, open from Saturday 12th March (10.00 am) at the Oratorio di San Carlo (via Testaferrata).
A roundup of “life pills” where the beach becomes a mirror of the Italian soul, the purest and most genuine. That relaxes savoring the vacations, in a theater of colors, negotiations with street vendors, laughter and gossip. Spending the most carefree months of the year among ice creams, card games and soccer on TV… under the sky of an Italian summer.
“This exhibition – notes Andrea Migliorini – is a selection of shots that I have collected year after year, during the weekends spent at the beach with my family. I like to take long walks on the beach and this is how I captured the essence of the average Italian at the seaside, who from the first light of dawn, laden with deckchairs and umbrellas, intent on grabbing and setting up the table for lunch or reading the newspaper, lying in the sun or ready for the umpteenth bath, reveals itself in all its authenticity in this infinite, yet precise, ritual of habits that unites legend to everyday life.”
“This new exhibition event, curated by Andrea Migliorini – notes the Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Culture, Claudia Centi – is the second organized in 2022 by the Photographic Group Giglio Rosso, which celebrates this year its forty years of activity, an association that has always been attentive to the promotion and documentation of our territory but also open to other realities and ready to receive new stimuli. This is the case of this new project, which provides us with a selection of images focused on one of the most beautiful moments of the year, full of happiness and serenity. And, especially in a period like this, we really need it”.
The exhibition, which enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, will be open until Sunday, March 20, observing the following schedule: Saturday and Sunday 10.00-12.00, 16.00-19.00; all other days only in the afternoon 16.00-19.00.
