A gallery of unlikely but moneyed characters. Perfect candidates (or almost), for two women who absolutely need to shelter themselves from all financial worries. This is the leitmotif of ‘Marry anyone, as long as they are rich’, a hilarious theatrical comedy full of twists and turns, which will be presented Saturday evening (10 May, 9:00 p.m.) at the Teatro del Popolo in Castelfiorentino.
The play, by the “Compagnia Il Cerchio di Gesso” (TeatroCastello) tells the story of a pair of sisters, who find themselves on the brink of financial ruin. In order not to do without their comfortable life, they propose to the daughter of one of them to marry a rich man in order to settle down and secure their financial situation.
The characters she is introduced to, however, are somewhat bizarre, and this creates some thought and not a few worries for the predestined daughter. Will the two sisters therefore succeed in their intentions? We will find out on Saturday night.
The play, written by Augusta Elena Giglioli and directed by Diego Conforti, is performed by Lucia Taddei, Chiara Maccioni, Carlo Campinoti, Roberto Fusi, Davide Puleo, Martina Vaccarino, Valentina Chiarugi, Graziella Colo, Fabio Marini, Andrea Donati, Gabriele Fontanelli, Irene Mandorlini. ‘It promises to be an entertaining evening,’ observes the Councillor for Culture, Franco Spina, ’thanks to this comedy centred on a theme that sometimes emerges with a touch of modesty in some families, but which they must naturally confront with the wishes of their children, often far removed from their expectations. It is a show that once again demonstrates not only a great passion for theatre, but also an aptitude for theatrical research on the part of the companies that are present in our territory, with many valid actors, scriptwriters and directors entirely “made in Castelfiorentino”.
The evening enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino and is organised in collaboration with Giallo Mare Minimal Teatro, the Fondazione Teatro del Popolo, Banca Cambiano 1884 and Ente Cambiano Spca.
