The charity event held yesterday at the Teatro del Popolo exceeded all expectations. The opera concert “Notes for Life”, an initiative promoted by the Certaldo Boccaccio Lions Club and the Valdelsa Rotary Club in collaboration with the association “Amici della Lirica Umberto Borsò”, raised €2,000 after expenses, which will be donated to ISPRO (Institute for the Study, Prevention and Oncology Network) for research and prevention.

The audience, which included many distinguished guests, greatly appreciated the opera pieces by Vivaldi, Puccini, Verdi, Donizetti, Mascagni, performed by the Castellano Opera Choir of the “Amici della Lirica Umberto Borsò” Association and by Martina Barreca, Francesco Marchetti, Elisabetta Vuocolo, Gabriele Centorbi, Nicoletta Cantini, together with soprano Claire Nesti and flutist Martina Fondati, who enthusiastically accepted the invitation to participate in this charity initiative.

The evening – which enjoyed the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino thanks also to the collaboration of Ente Cambiano Spca – was attended by the Mayor of Castelfiorentino, Francesca Giannì, the president of the Lions Club Certaldo Boccaccio, Elena Tamburini, the president of the Rotary Club Valdelsa, Camilla Ciampalini, and the director of ISPRO, Simona Dei.

“It is a pleasure for us”, emphasised Mayor Francesca Giannì, “to have sponsored this initiative, in an alliance between the Lions Club and Rotary, combining social aspects, such as fundraising for research for the benefit of ISPRO, with those relating to the promotion of some examples of excellence in Castelfiorentino culture, such as the Teatro del Popolo and the musical tradition of Castelfiorentino, in which the Amici della Lirica – through the Coro Lirico Castellano – have demonstrated their great artistic and creative ability. We are very pleased with the results achieved through the fundraising, and we therefore renew our support for these two associations, the Lions Club and Rotary, for their social commitment in our area.”

“It was very exciting”, said Elena Tamburini (president of the Certaldo Boccaccio Lions Club), “to see the theatre full for an evening like this. Our friends from Lirica gave us some wonderful moments, and the large audience was able to enjoy some great music, knowing that their presence was contributing to cancer prevention and research”.

“I am very pleased”, emphasises Camilla Ciampalini (president of the Rotary Club Valdelsa), “with the evening and the significant result achieved, thanks also to the large turnout”.
