Sunday 13th March at the Circolo del Tennis (Sports Area – Urban Park, 16.00) inauguration of the two new courts where this new sport can be played.
Padel arrived in Italy in the 1990s, but only in the last ten years it has become a popular sport, helped by the fact that it has few rules, is easy to learn and can be played at any age. This is the calling card of Padel, a sport very close to tennis, for which two new courts will be inaugurated on Sunday 13th March (4:00 p.m.) at the Circolo del Tennis.
Organised by the Polisportiva I’ Giglio di Castelfiorentino on the basis of an agreement with the municipality, the inaugural afternoon will be accompanied first of all by an exhibition of professional players, followed by a free trial for all participants.
The Mayor of Castelfiorentino, Alessio Falorni, who has not failed to throw down his gauntlet from his ‘social’ profile, will be present at the event.
“For those who want to challenge me,” the Mayor remarked jokingly, “counting on the fact that I am still a mediocre player having never played, you can contact Silvano Comanducci for reservations. As for the stakes, at most a drink at the bar”.
“The polisportiva I’Giglio – observes the President, Silvano Comanducci – is happy to have made this investment in order to widen and qualify more and more the offer of our sports centre. I am enthusiastic about the commitment that the volunteers, councillors and members have put into completing the construction of the pitches, and I would like to thank the entire Polisportiva and the Municipal Administration for this result. I am really happy and convinced that this new space will be an added value for our city”.
“We welcome with enthusiasm – underlines the Councillor for Sport, Simone Bruchi – the opening of two padel courts in our municipal tennis club. Once again, the Polisportiva shows itself to be a sports association that is attentive to the latest developments in sports disciplines and ready to get involved in order to offer our city the possibility of facilities and spaces. We would therefore like to thank the entire Polisportiva, starting with its President Silvano Comanducci and the entire board, for their commitment both in terms of work and improvements and in organising sports events. We invite all the townspeople to the inauguration, which will take place on Sunday 13th, to discover the splendid work done and try their hand at this very popular sport. This project is linked to the private project currently underway in Via XXIV Maggio, which, once completed, will make Castelfiorentino an even more sports-oriented city and one of the largest centres for tennis and padel facilities. I am proud,” concluded Bruchi, “to be able to say that Castelfiorentino is increasingly a City of Sport.
So that everyone can really try out this new sport, affordable rates have been set. The cost of the field is 8 euros per person for an hour and a half of play. Bookings can be made from Monday 14th March. To do so, you will need to download the “Tennis I’Giglio” app and register. More details will be given at the inauguration.
