They successfully exported their project to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome and the Republic of San Marino. And in the past few days, under a freezing north wind, they have completed preparations to complete the work in Castelfiorentino. They are the Castelfiorentino crib builders who, with patience and dedication, have set up one of the “centrepieces” of their work: “The Luminous Crib” that, together with the “Meteorological Crib”, this year completely renovated, and dozens of artistic and handcrafted cribs scattered throughout the upper city centre, will give life from Friday 8 (3.00 p.m.) to “The Street of Cribs”, which will be open during the entire Christmas period until 7 January (open on public holidays and holidays, 3.00 p.m. – 7.30 p.m.).

Promoted by the “All’ombra di Membrino” Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, “The street of Cribs” presents itself this year in a completely renewed guise, having now left behind the difficult period of Covid 19 restrictions. And it is no coincidence that the “Luminous Crib”, which will stand as usual in the Parco della Pieve named after Silvano Piovanelli, has been flanked by the complete makeover of the “Meteorological Crib” set up in the Church of San Filippo (Via Attavanti), which used to be visited by an average of 12/13,000 people a year. A “meteorological Nativity scene” to be discovered, with new buildings but above all decidedly “improved” weather effects, assure the organisers.

In the streets of the lower town centre, on the afternoon of Saturday 9 December (4.30-7.30 p.m.), there will also be the customary “castagnata” organised by the AVIS; there will also be (again from 4.30 p.m. onwards) an entertainment show for children: “Pinocchio seen and seen again” organised by the Gat. Lastly, on Sunday afternoon, the “Father Christmases” on bicycles from “La Rotonda” will invade the Christmas shopping streets, bringing joy, enthusiasm and cheer, and then stop at a station where roast chestnuts and mulled wine will be served.
