It is titled “Il Grande No” and the plot revolves around the theme of family relationships (tense and difficult), loneliness, bullying, and psychological violence. The cast also includes actors from Castelfiorentino.
A film is being shot in Castelfiorentino. Its title is “Il Grande No” by director Pupi Oggiano (known for his “hexalogy of fear”), who chose a house in the hills of the Valdelsano municipality for the first recordings of a claustrophobic thriller, which deals with tense and difficult family relationships, bullying, loneliness, and psychological violence. Little is known about the plot at the moment, but it is certain that the cast includes actors from Castelfiorentino, such as Ilaria Monfardini, Michele Cucchiara, Carlo Campinoti, and others.
The location chosen for the first week of filming is called “Villa Camelot,” which is the center of the story. A man lives in a large villa assisted by two companions who cater to his every need. In this space, so large yet so claustrophobic, we also find a group of people who have been kidnapped and forced to play children’s games at gunpoint.
Il Grande No, a unique independent film, touches on powerful and topical issues. Many of the actors who took part in this project are from Tuscany, specifically from the areas of Castelfiorentino, Gambassi, Empoli, and Montecatini Terme. In addition to those mentioned above, the cast includes Sandro Toncelli, Irene Mandorlini, Alberto Marconcini, Alberto Maria Pollastrini, Cinzia Rossati, Elisa Leoncini, Ilaria Cantini, Bruno Grillo, and the children Morgana and Ginevra Pollastrini, Mirko Battaglia, Alice Geri, and Corrado Fontanelli
The cast of Pupi Oggiano includes some names that fans of the genre will easily recognize: from the protagonist Diego Casale (in a role that is likely to become iconic) to Alis D’amico, from Ilaria Monfardini to Tita Giunta, from Paolo Mazzini to Clarissa Allia. Joining them are some new additions to Oggiano’s team: Daniele Favilli and Silvia Collatina, to name two with an important film history, but keep an eye out for some surprises such as Caterina Cioli Puviani. There are also new additions to Oggiano’s technical team, which includes, among others, long-time collaborator Alessandro Benna (filming and editing), Daniele Trani as director of photography, and Emanuele Marchetto as sound engineer.
The cast, mainly from Tuscany and Piedmont, also includes actors from other regions: Maurizio Parietti (Milan), Valentina Anselmi (Bologna), Simone Cazzola (Genoa), and Sabrina Menini (La Spezia). Makeup and prosthetic effects are handled by makeup artist Grazia D’Amaro and the girls at GraDam Studio.
Once filming in Castelfiorentino is complete, the set will move to Turin, to several locations in the city and to a castle whose name remains a mystery for now.
