A show that is also a game, telling the story of one of the greatest composers of all time: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This is the premise of “The Wam Game. The Mozart Game”, a production by Venti Lucenti in collaboration with the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (musical arrangement by Andrea Basevi), which will take place in Piazza Gramsci on Friday evening (5 September, 9:00 p.m.) with free admission subject to availability.
The evening, which is part of the “Maggio Metropolitano 2025” project, focuses on the life of the famous composer through his extraordinary music, the most important events of his era, and the people who loved (or perhaps hated) him. It is almost a “guided tour” that takes us on a journey of discovery into his world, thanks to four actors who play dozens of characters, constantly changing costumes, roles and status.
The audience is thus drawn into a whirlwind of gags and narrative twists, becoming spectators or performers as the show progresses. Ultimately, it is a “game”: a moment to reflect on the human story of the brilliant Amadeus, to listen to music (live), but also an “educational” opportunity for the audience.
The evening is sponsored by the Municipality of Castelfiorentino.
“We are delighted”, says the Councillor for Culture, Franco Spina, “to host this show, which is part of the Maggio Metropolitano project, now in its ninth edition, the result of a prestigious collaboration with the municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Florence, which offers everyone the opportunity to attend theatrical and musical performances of high quality and artistic merit. Friday’s performance, focusing on the life of Mozart, takes us on a journey of discovery, not only of the music but also of the life of the famous composer, allowing us to appreciate his human side as well as his extraordinary talent. I would therefore like to thank the Fondazione del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino for the attention it has given to our area and our citizens.”
The show features Giorgia Tomasi, Francesco Grifoni, Leonardo Pesucci, Viola Picchi Marchi, with the participation of soprano Ketevan Abuladze. Conductor Pietro Mazzetti, director Lorenzo Sanna. Direction and script by Manu Lalli.
Produced by the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in co-production with Venti Lucenti. Maggio Metropolitano is a project of the Fondazione Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino funded by the Metropolitan City of Florence.
Details of the show can be found on the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino website.
