Urban Park Wednesday 14 June (meeting at 7 p.m. in the spaces in front of the Polisportiva I’Giglio headquarters in Viale Roosevelt (adjacent to the ‘Riccardo Neri’ Municipal Stadium), an initiative promoted by Polisportiva I’Giglio in collaboration with Avis Castelfiorentino. Circuit along the Urban Park of 3 km. Departure at 8.30 p.m.
Wednesday 14 June sees the return of the ‘Urban Running’ relay race (15th Giracastello trophy), a competitive race disputed by teams of three athletes, which will take place on a completely flat 3 km circuit in the Castelfiorentino Urban Park. Promoted by Polisportiva I’Giglio in collaboration with Avis Castelfiorentino, the event enjoys the patronage of the Municipality.
Urban Running is a relay running race: each relay will be composed of three athletes (at least 18 years of age), who may also belong to different clubs. Each relay runner will have to run two laps of the planned route for a total of approximately 3 km. The timing chip (baton) will be handed over to the competitors of the first leg at the starting area. The ranking will be based on the total times taken by the relays to complete the routes. The relay race is competitive and only athletes with a suitable competitive sports medical certificate will participate.
The meeting, athletes’ registration, start and finish will take place in the spaces in front of the Polisportiva I’Giglio headquarters in Viale Roosevelt (adjacent to the ‘Riccardo Neri’ Municipal Stadium). Changing rooms, bag depot and shower service will be made available to participants (in addition to the possibility of ample parking). The meeting is scheduled at 19.00, while the start is scheduled for 20.30. Surveillance points will be set up along the route to ensure the success of the event and refreshments at the end of the race.

This edition features a race course in the Urban Park, which is very popular with citizens even during the summer evenings, and is perfectly in line with a successful season for the Athletics and Running group, a healthy and participative sector where athletes and amateurs coexist, united by their passion and commitment for this discipline. My thanks go to all the volunteers of the Polisportiva and the associations who, with a spirit of service, collaborate in the management of the event”.
I prizes for the best times achieved by the relays will be awarded according to the categories, awarded on the basis of the combined age of the three athletes making up each relay. A special prize will also be awarded to the ‘best fractionist’ man and woman, while a participation prize will be presented to all participants. Registration fees: € 15 per relay (by midnight on 13 June) or € 18 per relay on race day (by 8.15 p.m.), Registration can be done either online at www.cronorun.it or on race day.
Part of the proceeds of the event will be donated to the “Amici dell’Hospice” Association of Empoli, whose mission is to enhance the specialist territorial structure that takes care of the hospitalisation of patients suffering from incurable diseases.
