Preventing and combating youth distress by creating opportunities for exchange and discussion among adolescents. This is the goal of the meetings that will take place at the “Vallesiana” Library on Friday 21 November and Friday 5 December (5:00-7:00 p.m.) with a group of young people aged 17 to 24 (Youth Clown) who carry out artistic and pedagogical research (free admission). The initiative, aimed at young people aged 14 and over, will also see the participation of operators from the Teatro C’Art, whose pedagogical method is based on bodily expression and, therefore, on predominantly non-verbal communication, in order to promote interpersonal relationships regardless of linguistic or cultural barriers.
These evenings are part of the “City, Community and Care” project run by the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, funded by the European Union, the Italian Republic and the Region of Tuscany, and aim to create a coordinated and integrated social animation initiative in the central districts of the city through the direct involvement of teenagers and young people, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of social life for citizens and implementing a participatory redevelopment of public spaces.
“Micro-projects are starting up with events that directly involve young people who have been approached during street education initiatives”, says Marta Longaresi, Councillor for Education, “and focus groups are continuing, with meetings to investigate, explore and engage with third sector, sports and cultural associations and commercial activities. Street education continues in the places and areas identified by the project to encourage the development of relationships and engagement through specialised operators. Piece by piece, we are building a puzzle of youth policies that involves the valuable realities of our territory and, above all, responds to a clear need for care, space and opportunities for young people. This project is not just a parenthesis that opens and closes, but the beginning of a much longer and more lasting journey.”
