Tomorrow evening ‘Musica in festa’ with groups from the Music School and the ‘G. Verdi’ Philharmonic. On Friday the ‘Jazz Trio’ will perform, with percussion.
The Giugno Musicale Castellano, an event under the stars held in the evocative setting of the Monastery of Santa Maria della Marca, continues. After Sunday’s opening concert, which featured the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Brass Band and was a great success with the public, this week the festival offers two more concerts: the first is scheduled for tomorrow (9.00 pm) with “Musica in festa”. The evening will be opened by the Filarmonica “G. Verdi” with some excerpts from the “Merry Widow” (by Franz Lehár), performed by a soprano and a tenor. Following this, the Music School groups will perform on stage: the primary school children, the string group, the music school choir, the Bandina Junior and the S. Maria Goretti Kindergarten children’s group. Friday 16 June (9.00 pm) an evening with the ‘Jazz Trio’ organised by Claudio Fontanelli.
“After Sunday’s success,” emphasises Deputy Mayor Claudia Centi, “which drew almost 200 people, this week the Giugno Musicale proposes two evenings of groups from our area and jazz music. A double opportunity, therefore, to go out in the evening after dinner and rediscover the beauty of this Monastery, which we are committed to enhancing in close cooperation with all the musical and cultural associations in our area”.
The “Melodie nella Marca” review will conclude in the last week of June with “Guitarra mi amor” (Wednesday 28 June, by the Ensemble di Chitarre “La Piccola” and Orchestra Orpheus), “Cavalleria Rusticana” (Friday 30 June, with the Associazione “Amici della Lirica Umberto Borsò”, Corale Amedeo Bassi, Coro Lirico Castellano, Orchestra Orpheus).
The Monastery of Santa Maria della Marca is located in Via delle Monache 7. In case of rain the concerts will be held in the Church of Santa Chiara. Admission to the concerts is free (subject to availability) but an offering is welcome. The proceeds of the festival will be donated to the flooded families of Emilia Romagna.
