You can enter by May 12 with a figurative artwork (graphic or sculptural) or a video. Rich prize pool: up to 400 euros and a year of free classes
Are you a junior or senior high school (middle school) student in Castelfiorentino? The “G. Verdi” Philharmonic has announced a Prize Competition to celebrate the 200th anniversary of its founding, in which you can participate by submitting a work of art that is representative of its history and function in two centuries of city life.
In the competition, which enjoys the patronage of the City of Castelfiorentino, one can participate individually or through groups (classes, etc.) with new and unpublished works, whether it is figurative art (any graphic or sculptural technique is allowed) or a video, respecting the specific characteristics contemplated by the call for entries.
The deadline to submit the work is May 12, 2024, which must be done (together with the completed entry form) using only a free file sharing service (example: we transfer) to the email address: filarmonicagvcastelfiorentino@gmail.com
All works will be posted on the Philharmonic’s social profiles to allow for public voting as well. In any case, there will be a Jury that will pronounce on their artistic value, originality and relevance to the theme, providing for the selection of the winners in an unquestionable manner.
Prizes: first place – if single participant – will enjoy one year of free lessons on an instrument of his or her choice, and in case the work was submitted by groups or classes there is a cash prize of 400 euros. The runner-up – if a single participant – will enjoy six months of free lessons on an instrument of his or her choice, and in case the work was submitted by groups or classes there is a cash prize of 200 euros
All works will be exhibited during the bicentennial celebration, to be held in June 2024, during which the award ceremony will also take place. The winning works will be displayed in the Philharmonic Museum.
“Two centuries of musical passion,” observes Deputy Mayor, Claudia Centi, “mark the long journey of our Philharmonic “G. Verdi,” which since its origins has been characterized by its authentically popular matrix and unified spirit. We therefore greet with joy this competition, which coincides with the 200th anniversary of its founding, and which also represents an opportunity for young people from secondary schools to express their artistic creativity through a plurality of languages. I think it is also a way to emphasize the value of an institution that is always present at all the most significant events in our community.”
