A strong message, a renewed call for women never to be left alone. Within the domestic walls, in the life of relationships, in the world of work, in any context where episodes of violence or prevarication can take place. It is in this spirit that the world of associations and volunteerism, in concert with the Municipal Administration, invites citizens to participate in the initiative “Fresco of Woman. You are not alone” scheduled at the Ridotto of the People’s Theater on Friday, March 7, at 5:30 p.m., on the occasion of International Women’s Day. An invitation addressed naturally to women, but extended to men as well, “to share emotions, awareness and closeness” in an evening that promises to be rich in content.
After an introductory speech by the secretary of the SPI CGIL League, Daniela Cipollini, the Mayor, Francesca Giannì, the Councillor for Equal Opportunities, Marta Longaresi, and the President of the Unicoop members’ section of Castelfiorentino, Giancarla Armano, will speak. Also planned are some musical interludes and songs performed by Letizia Pozzolini, Simone Bigazzi and Francesco Ciulli, respectively, and prose and poetry readings by Lucia Succi and Maria Grazia Lotti.
This will be followed by speeches by psychologists from the Lilith Women’s Help Center: Lorella Giglioli (Sportello Binario Donna, active in Castelfiorentino since 2018 as a listening and first reception point) and Valeria Paganelli (Sportello Sara), the latter service engaged especially on the prevention front in adolescence.
“The initiative on the occasion of International Women’s Day,” observes Giancarla Armano, president of the Unicoop Castelfiorentino members’ section, ”shared by all the associations in our area, is intended to give a strong signal with respect to the increasingly convinced and determined commitment to collaborate with the municipal administration to give continuity to initiatives to guarantee women’s rights. It will also be important to have cognizance of the activity in the territory of the Lilith Women’s Help Center, not only with Binario Donna, for those who find themselves in difficulty, but also with Sportello Sara, a new service dedicated to teens and adolescents aimed at preventing erroneous relationship approaches in adolescence, through listening and training. But we also want to talk about the strength of women, awareness of their role and rights, with different languages, made suggestions of colors, lights and shadows, music, poetry readings and meaningful prose excerpts that can communicate emotions and instill hope to change direction.”
“The Municipal Administration,” observes Councillor for Equal Opportunities, Marta Longaresi, ”is seriously committed to supporting first and foremost the anti-violence networks that are present in our territory, but it also intends to act on the prevention side, with socio-educational projects aimed at both families and young people, as well as in the protection of their rights, through gender policies that reduce the obstacles to women’s effective inclusion in the world of work. This day is certainly valuable to reflect on the issue of rights and women, however, there is a need for serious commitment to gender policies and to make sure that we continue to fight for rights. Thank you very much to all the associations that are working on the front lines to promote days of reflection and operational planning for our community.”
The International Women’s Day is promoted by the SPI CGIL of Castelfiorentino (Women’s Coordination) under the patronage of the municipality and in collaboration with Unicoop Firenze (Castelfiorentino members section), Avis, Avo, Giglio Rosso Photographic Group, Prociv Arci, Auser Filo Argento, ANPI, Lilith Women’s Aid Center, Circolo del Cinema “Angelo Azzurro,” theStanza Rossa.
