The Paiva family lives in the only possible way to resist the climate of oppression that looms over the country, with irony and affection, sharing everyday life with friends and relatives. But one day, the Paivas find themselves victims of a violent and arbitrary action by the government: Eunice (Fernanda Torres) is suddenly left without her husband Rubens (Selton Mello), alone and with five children, forced to reinvent herself in order to protect her loved ones and design a different future from what society has in store for her.

Gente di facili costumi
First performed in 1988, with Nino Manfredi himself as the protagonist, this text is still considered one of the most striking on the Italian theatre scene in recent decades. The protagonists of the play are Anna, “Princess”, a prostitute who dreams of becoming “giostraia”, and Ugo, an intellectual who lives writing for TV and cinema who dreams of making an art film. The story starts the night when Ugo goes upstairs to complain with her noisy roommate and she, for confusion, leaves open the tap of the water of the bath irremediably flooding his apartment. Ugo will therefore be forced, also because of an eviction, to find refuge from the “Princess”. With this forced coexistence begins a confrontation/ clash dotted with accidents and misunderstandings, but also a curious association, where each gives to the other what he has.
Available online in advance.
Place: Teatro del Popolo, piazza Gramsci.

“Il Nibbio”, a film directed by Alessandro Tonda, recounts the twenty-eight days that preceded the tragic 4 March 2005, when Nicola Calipari (Claudio Santamaria), key figure of SISMI, gave his life to save Giuliana Sgrena (Sonia Bergamasco), journalist kidnapped in Iraq by a terrorist group. Silent hero of the operations in Iraq, Calipari has dedicated his career to protecting lives and preserving peace. The mystery of his murder, however, remains unanswered. A story of courage, sacrifice and truths never revealed.
