Two weekends dedicated to minibasket in Castelfiorentino. On Saturday 24 May (3:30 p.m.), the PalaGilardetti (Via XXVI Aprile) will host a stage of the “We want to play basketball” project, promoted by the Italian Basketball Federation with the aim of spreading this sport among very young girls born in the years 2014/2015. Several mini-games will take place on the court, played by teams of girls (4 vs. 4) registered with the various clubs in Tuscany.
The young athletes will be mixed together, with a view to promoting the minibasket game-sport. At the end, each will receive a certificate commemorating the day from the club.
On Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June, instead, the 27th Friendship Trophy is scheduled, the final event of the Abc Castelfiorentino minibasket season, organised by the Italian Basketball Federation with the patronage of the municipality.
The event, reserved for the Aquilotti 2014 category (admitted 2015), will feature eight teams from all over Tuscany at the PalaBetti in Viale Roosevelt and the PalaGilardetti in Via XXV Aprile. The tournament formula foresees two rounds in Italian style, at the end of which the cross semifinals and the finals 1-8 place will be held.
“A double weekend dedicated to minibasket”, observes the Vice-Mayor with responsibility for Sport, Fabio Tinti, “with two appointments that have different characteristics but both represent valuable confirmation of the commitment of the Italian Basketball Federation and ABC Castellana to promote this sport among the new generations”.
