An innovative, qualified service that puts the family at the center of one of the most important and delicate moments in their lives, such as the birth of a child: from pregnancy to the first three years of life. A service that aims to support new parents through a process of listening, discussion, and support, through a multidisciplinary approach and with the participation of numerous professionals from local social and health facilities.

E’ this is the calling card of the project “1000 days. A growing family”, promoted by the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, whose contents were illustrated this morning at the Empoli headquarters of the Empoli Valdarno Valdelsa Health Society (the project’s patron, together with the ASL Toscana Centro), with interventions by Francesca Giannì (President of the SDS EVV and Mayor of Castelfiorentino), Franco Doni (Director of the SdS EVV), Federica Parisi (Councilor for Social and Health Policies of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino) and Sabrina Gori (Head of Personal Services of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino).

As those present mentioned, the project had already been tested in the first months of 2026, and the high level of approval it received from parents led the Municipal Administration of Castelfiorentino to present it in a more structured manner, increasing the number of meetings and offering the opportunity to benefit from a wider range of skills and professionalism: from physiotherapist to psychologist, from gynecologist to pediatric specialist, from the naturopath to the midwives, and so on.

Through thirteen meetings that will take place starting from November 18th every fortnight (always on Wednesdays, from 4pm to 7pm), at the Centre “Mille giorni” in via L. Da Vinci (Castelfiorentino) families will be able to have integrated support available, personalized and close to their needs, capable of answering their questions, intercept any difficulties and value the aptitudes of each parent.

The topics addressed will concern both the pregnancy and childbirth and breastfeeding phases, but also the equally relevant ones of “becoming a parent, remaining a couple”, in order to preserve intimacy and sexuality. And then the management of the first “1000 days” of the child’s life, fundamental for his intellectual and emotional development and for the well-being of the whole family.

“The birth of a child – observe Francesca Giannì (Mayor of Castelfiorentino) and Federica Parisi (Councilor for Social and Health Policies) – is an extraordinary experience, full of expectations, emotions, changes and new responsibilities. It is precisely to support families on this journey that we have strengthened this service dedicated to parents “waiting” and the first 1000 days of a child’s life. A growing family must not feel alone. With this service, which relies on the collaboration of local social and health services, the Municipality of Castelfiorentino intends to provide families with professionalism, listening, and support. Because taking care of children means, first of all, taking care of those who accompany them in their first steps”.

The participation fee is 50 euros, valid for attendance at all thirteen meetings.
