Tuesday 18 March at 9:30 p.m. Cinema Mario Monicelli “Il Nibbio”, a film directed by Alessandro Tonda, recounts the twenty-eight days that preceded the tragic 4 March 2005, when Nicola Calipari (Claudio Santamaria), key figure of SISMI, gave his life to save Giuliana Sgrena (Sonia Bergamasco), journalist kidnapped in Iraq by a terrorist group. Silent hero of the operations in Iraq, Calipari has dedicated his career to protecting lives and preserving peace. |

Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 March Cinema Mario Monicelli “Anora”, film directed by Sean Baker, follows the adventures of a sex worker between New York and Las Vegas. The woman has a chance to live a Cinderella story when she meets and marries impulsively the son of an oligarch. The news arrives in Russia and his fable is at risk of being shattered when his parents leave for New York to have their marriage annulled. The screening on Saturday 22 is at 9:30 p.m, while that of Sunday 23 is at 5:30 p.m. Tickets also available online. Place: Cinema Mario Monicelli, Piazza Gramsci Until Wednesday 30 April Widespread exhibition On 3 February 1945 a group of volunteers gathered in front of the Teatro del Popolo to set off towards the Gothic Line and liberate Italy from Nazi fascism. Of this group of 119 men, 73 were from Castelfiorentino. On the eightieth anniversary of the departure of the volunteers for the Liberation Struggle, Castelfiorentino hosts an exhibition with images that have immortalized those moments.
