An end-of-year show featuring spectacular moments, acrobatic performances and stunning choreography, enhanced by the colours and costumes of various countries around the world. This is the highlight of “Around the World in an Evening”, scheduled to take place at the Palazzetto dello Sport (PalaBetti) on Saturday 6 June at 8.30 p.m. (free admission).
An evening that will see over 120 girls and boys from the artistic gymnastics section of Polisportiva I’Giglio (aged 4–16) perform a series of technical and choreographed routines (on the balance beam and floor), marking the conclusion of the training programme undertaken throughout the year, showcasing the skills of balance and artistic expression acquired thanks to the work of the entire coaching staff, who have been passionately involved in this sport for years.
The gymnasts will be divided into groups, and each group will wear colours and outfits representing a specific country. The end-of-year show follows another public performance held around the Christmas period.
“The end-of-season artistic gymnastics display”, reads a statement from the group, which is part of Polisportiva I’Giglio, “marks the traditional culmination of the first half of the sporting year, following months of intensive preparation for competitions and championships. The event is a particularly significant occasion for all the gymnasts, who have the opportunity to perform in front of an audience, showcasing their progress, commitment and the results achieved during the season. Through choreography, routines and technical demonstrations, the athletes take spectators and enthusiasts on a journey of discovery through the world of artistic gymnastics, engaging even those encountering the discipline for the first time”.
“The artistic gymnastics team is one of the city’s sporting highlights”, emphasises the Councillor for Sport, Gianluca D’Alessio. “The significant growth seen in recent years and the recent opening of a dedicated gym have created the ideal conditions for the consolidation of the entire sector. The results that some very young athletes are achieving in major competitions are a natural consequence of this. This obviously fills us with pride and satisfaction, but the most important aspect when it comes to youth activities remains the fact that our young people can nurture their passion for sport in a healthy way, and spend part of their free time in a peaceful and safe environment”.
