On Thursday, September 7, the legendary “Rificolona” returns.
Friday, Sept. 8 apericena and awards presentation to eighty donors
Two evenings for “Avis in Festa” in Castelfiorentino. Two initiatives promoted by AVIS with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino are scheduled next week to raise awareness of the need to donate blood and plasma and to present prizes and awards to all the people who have already made this choice.
The first initiative is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 7, and will be dedicated to the mythical “Rificolona,” an event in the wake of tradition in which children will be the protagonists, both in the making and in the display of these evocative artifacts, with their fantasies and colors
As it will be recalled, the Rificolona has its origins in the rural Florentine masses, who once descended from Bivigliano and Vallombrosa to Piazza SS Annunziata (Florence) during the night hours, and who used a DIY street lamp surrounded by a paper wrapper to light the way. Upon arriving in Florence, the peasants were often surrounded by numerous children, who enjoyed singing to them. Hence the connection between the rificolona and children (and the irreverent nursery rhyme we all know, “ona ona ona..”) from which the event later spread throughout the province.
The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. in Gramsci Square with rificolone construction workshops, while in the evening there will be a parade, departing at 9 p.m. from the Church of St. Francis and arriving in Gramsci Square. The parade will be accompanied by the musical notes of the “G. Verdi” Philharmonic. On Friday, September 8 (from 7 p.m. onward), meet at Bar Lilith, in Piazza Cavour, for an “AperiAvis,” apericena reserved and offered to all donors. Donors willing to participate are invited to make reservations (0571.628032 or whatsapp 3713644267). This will be followed by the presentation of prizes and awards for eighty donors.”Every week,” observes Health Councillor Alessandro Tafi, “our hospital provides numerous services to patients in need of transfusions, but the shortage of blood and especially plasma is also making itself felt in our territory. Therefore, I can only take advantage of these festive days to renew the invitation to the population to donate, in the knowledge that it is a gesture, a choice that can help save lives.”In this regard, Avis would like to remind you that on Sunday, September 24, an extraordinary opening of the transfusion center is scheduled, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. (the transfusion center is still open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon).
