On Sunday 19 April (4.00–7.30 pm), the high street will come alive with games, shows and workshops – STORES OPEN
An event that finally heralds the arrival of spring, a festival entirely dedicated to children: featuring games, shows and workshops. This is the highlight of “Castello di Giochi”, which will take place in the streets and squares of Castelfiorentino’s historic centre on Sunday 19 April, from 4.00 pm to 7.30 pm
Participation in all activities is completely free, and there will also be the opportunity to do some shopping as the shops will be open
Organised by the CCN “Tre Piazze” Association in collaboration with Castelfiorentino Town Council, Confesercenti Firenze and Ente Cambiano Scpa (an Exponent organisation), “Castello di Giochi” will kick off this afternoon in Piazza Gramsci and in several streets in the town centre, with events taking place at fixed or mobile locations. In Piazza Gramsci, the “Bottega di Geppetto” will be set up, a workshop for making toys and sculptures from reclaimed wood (organised by Fantulin), where entertainers will involve children in crafting items and games, turning them into little artisans for a day who can take home what they have made.
Also in the square will be the “Trucca Bimbi”, where children will have the chance to imagine themselves as “superheroes, princesses” or perhaps their favourite animal (organised by “Le Decorazioni di Lu”), whilst Italo Pecoretti (“Teatro delle Dodici Lune”) will perform a puppet show entitled “Pulcinella in fabula” (4 pm, with a repeat performance at 6 pm).
At the same time, a ‘playful’ atmosphere will take over Via Testaferrata, where a number of ‘board games’ for young and old alike will be set up (organised by ‘Sistemi Ludici’), whilst the other streets in the town centre will be part of the travelling show ‘Travelling on a Soap Bubble’, featuring the clown Ferux and his giant bubbles.
At 5 pm, meet in Piazza Kennedy for an unmissable show: “The Pillow Fight” by Dispari Teatro. An event born in 1991 from memories of the feather-tossing battles that siblings used to have on the bed before going to sleep as children: the battle will transform into an explosive, epic, fun and highly engaging street performance. The event concludes on a giant, air-filled cushion, where you can swim, roll, crawl and, of course, rest after all that exertion.
“Castello di Giochi – notes the Councillor for Commerce, Gianluca D’Alessio – brings joy and cheer to the streets and squares of Castelfiorentino thanks to a host of entertainment activities. It is an event particularly loved by children and their families, offering the chance to explore workshops designed to stimulate their creativity and shows offering pure entertainment, alongside board games open to adults too and street games where children can let their energy run wild. In short, a wonderful festival to bring the town centre to life, where there will also be the opportunity to do some shopping thanks to the shops being open.”
