Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October in the hilltop village of Castelnuovo d’Elsa (Castelfiorentino FI)
A Via Francigena to discover, full of enchanting landscapes and suggestive itineraries, suitable for all ages. But also food and wine products, poetry shows, theatre, music, which will enliven the small hilltop village of Castelnuovo d’Elsa (Castelfiorentino – FI) on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 October. This is the calling card of “Castelnuovo Fest. The Via Francigena in Valdelsa”, a classic event for those who want to learn more about the ancient route traveled by pilgrims during the Middle Ages, but also for those who intend to wander among the gastronomic excellences of the area, alternating wine tasting with opera music, or perhaps attend some poetry, theater and popular song shows that will accompany Sunday’s outdoor lunch which for the first time will take place in a unique atmosphere along the streets of the village of Castelnuovo d’Elsa.
Promoted by the municipality of Castelfiorentino in collaboration with associations and the support of numerous sponsors in the area, Castelnuovo Fest offers a substantial calendar of excursions to learn about the ancient route described by Sigerico in 990 AD (which from 29 September to 3 October also involves students from Comprensivo and Enriques), tastings at the Castle of Coiano with musical accompaniment (between Saturday and Sunday), and numerous events in the historic center of Castelnuovo: from the poetry and music show with Massimiliano Bardotti (recently awarded the Montale Prize) to the “Theatrical Night” through the streets of the village, organized by Gat Teatro, a seven stations path that will accompany visitors to discover the “thin border” between good a evil; from theatrical animation along the “paths” to an original reconstruction of the history of man starting from his origins, to the rhythm of the “4 seasons” of Antonio Vivaldi. Furthermore, a food and wine market will liven up the streets of central Castelnuovo between Saturday afternoon and Sunday with typical products of the Empoli Valdelsa food tradition.
Castelnuovo Fest is also a laboratory for young people: for those who have drawn the “good walking stones” scattered along the various itineraries proposed to hikers and visitors in the previous weeks, but also for the little ones, who can discover the historical and artistic heritage of Castelfiorentino with an accessible language or learn to recognize wild herbs and medicinal plants present in the area.
Finally, all visitors will be offered the opportunity to be immortalized in an original souvenir photo, in black and white and taken with the Minutera itinerante, which takes you back to the poses of a distant past.
