Saturday 30th September (4 p.m. – 00 p.m.) opening at the RSA Pablo Neruda of the photo exhibition curated by Marco Mangini (Photographic Group “Giglio Rosso”).
A look, a hug, a smile. Unmistakable signs of certain “very special” connections with our elderly. It is with the careful eye of the photographer, but also thanks to his special sensitivity, that Marco Mangini has conceived, designed and created a permanent photo exhibition dedicated to the elderly of the RSA “Pablo Neruda” of Castelfiorentino, which will be inaugurated on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 4 p.m.
Organized by Grazia Vecchio (animator of the RSA, managed by the “G. Di Vittorio” Cooperative Society) and the “Giglio Rosso” Photography Group under the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, the exhibition presents a roundup of shots that – as Marco Mangini points out – seek above all to “capture the moment,” immortalizing the moments spent by the elderly of the RSA in the company of their family members during visits: revealing “certain very special bonds” as the title of the exhibition precisely states. And which represent for the elderly, as it is easy to understand, reason for comfort. An opportunity to wring a smile from them.
“In all situations of fragility,” Marco Mangini notes in the exhibition catalog, “one of the greatest risks is loneliness. The need for affection, for shared memories is a constant. People wait for those who respond to these needs of theirs, whether it is a relative, a friend, a fellow traveler, so the ‘Ties’ are strengthened, polarized, new ones are created.”
Marco Mangini’s is the third project proposed and carried out by the “Giglio Rosso” photography group, and it is also the one that struck Linda Domizi (RSA director) the most, as a project that “goes straight to the heart for those who do our work and for those who, like us, experience every day the power that certain very special ties have in these places. Ties that have the power to heal more than medical treatment or to make people sick despite medical treatment.”
“Humanity and a great sensitivity,” observes the Councillor for Social Policies, Alessandro Tafi, “are the two characterizing elements of this exhibition, so steeped in emotions, in which the affections between parents and children, between sisters and brothers, between grandparents and grandchildren or perhaps between spouses are told above all. This is a truly meritorious initiative for which I thank Marco Mangini and the entire Giglio Rosso photography group, as well as RSA Pablo Neruda and Cooperativa Di Vittorio, who have always been committed with their activities not only to providing an important service for the Castelfiorentino community, but who enrich it with values that can make the daily lives of our elderly more serene and certainly better.”
