On Sunday 10 May, an all-breed dog show will be held in the grounds of the villa that hosted the ‘Hero of Two Worlds’ in August 1867, with the opportunity to visit the historic residence, which has preserved the atmosphere of the era intact.
An unmissable event for all dog lovers, but also an opportunity to visit the historic residence that hosted the “Hero of Two Worlds” in August 1867. On Sunday 10 May, a “National Dog Beauty Show” is scheduled to take place in the hamlet of Petrazzi (Castelfiorentino), open to all breeds, including mixed-breed dogs and young handlers. The event, organised by Arci Caccia Toscana, will take place within the grounds of the Villa that once hosted Giuseppe Garibaldi, with the chance to visit the rooms which, thanks to the care and passion of the owners, have preserved the atmosphere of the era intact.
The meeting is scheduled for 8.30 am to complete the registration formalities. All breeds may participate, with or without a certificate (Arci Caccia membership card is compulsory, and can also be obtained on site), divided into the following competition classes: novices (4–7 months), juniors (8–11 months), intermediate (12–17 months), (over 18 months), veterans (over 7 years), champions (Arci Caccia only), Groups and Pairs. The show and judging are scheduled for around 10.30 am (subject to availability). Veterinary services are guaranteed. There will also be the opportunity to have lunch in the farmyard, and at 3.00 pm the ‘groupings and Best in Show’ are scheduled (exhibition info: Giampaolo +39345 505 712)
At the same time, from 10.00 am (until 12.00 pm, and again in the afternoon from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm), visitors can view the villa’s charming interiors for a small fee, including the two drawing rooms and the ‘bedroom’ where Garibaldi slept (the original bed is still there), as well as the rooms adorned with furniture, paintings, prints and documents (including a letter from Garibaldi thanking the “friends of Castelfiorentino”). The Villa, owned by Leonardo Fabiani, is part of the “Case della Memoria” association and was also visited in 2019 by the great-granddaughter of the “Hero of Two Worlds”, Annita Garibaldi Jallet.
