Football tournament in memory of Riccardo and Alessio, who tragically died in 2006 in the accident
at the Vinovo (TO) sports centre. The matches will take place on Saturday and Sunday (10-11 June).
Honesty, fairness, respect. But also solidarity and help for children in difficulty. These are the values that have characterised the Riccardo Neri & Alessio Ferramosca ‘Memorial’ from the very beginning. The Memorial was created by the families of the two young footballers who tragically died in the 2006 accident at the Juventus training centre in Vinovo (TO), and will be held this weekend with a noble objective: the proceeds from the entire event will contribute to raising funds for charity to help ‘special’ children in need of care. The best way, in short, to remember Riccardo and Alessio.
Now in its 15th edition, the Memorial will be presented during a dinner scheduled for Friday evening (9 June, 8.15 p.m.) at the ‘Boscotondo’ restaurant in Gambassi Terme (reservations: directly at the restaurant or 0571.629112, 335.290800, 338.7748533); during the evening, awards will also be presented to personalities who have distinguished themselves in the world of sport and sports journalism.
On Saturday 10 and Sunday 11, tournaments are scheduled in the stadiums of Gambassi Terme and Castelfiorentino, the latter named in 2016 after Riccardo Neri, who had started playing football in the Castelfiorentino youth team when he was six years old.
On Sunday, the finals will be played. In Gambassi Terme those for 9th and 7th place (starting at 3.00 p.m.), the others in the stadium of Castelfiorentino (starting at 4.00 p.m.), where at 7.00 p.m. the prize-giving of all participating teams is scheduled. For the Municipal Administration of Castelfiorentino, the Councillor for Sport, Simone Bruchi, will speak.
‘Every year,’ observes Simone Bruchi (Councillor for Sport), ‘I participate with pleasure in this event, in memory of Riccardo and Alessio, who left a precious legacy in terms of values, dedication to sport, commitment and the desire to improve. Thanks to their families, the Memorial is also an opportunity to do good by treating children suffering from serious illnesses, so that they can continue to cultivate dreams and hopes for a better future. For all these reasons, I hope that, as in the past, this edition of the Memorial will have a positive response and be attended as it deserves”.
