Itinerant readings to involve children in an entertaining journey to discover the toponymy of Castelfiorentino. Or perhaps to invite adults to listen to stories and anecdotes of life, poetic verses, pieces and fragments of various humanity. These are the urban narratives of the “Out of place” review, which starting on the afternoon of Saturday 9 November will make their appearance in the city centre (Natural Shopping Centre area) to entertain adults and children through open-air public reading initiatives, free and completely free of charge.
Promoted by the “Vallesiana” Municipal Library of Castelfiorentino, the event will kick off on Saturday afternoon with”Vie maestre” (3:30 p.m., meeting point in Piazza Gramsci), an itinerant initiative designed for children aged 6 to 10 who, together with their families, will be able to get to know the places and the most famous characters after whom some of the town’s streets are named.
To follow (5:00 p.m., at Be.Go. Museum), “Frammenti”, readings from the humorous autobiographical novel “A man in pieces” by Francesco Muzzopappa, curated by Anna di Maggio. Hilarious and irresistible stories by one of the best-loved humorous writers in Italian literature, who tells his story for the first time through amusing life anecdotes.
The initiative for children will be repeated in its entirety onSaturday 23 November, in conjunction with the start of the initiatives planned for the commemoration of the Peace after Montaperti, while at the Be.Go. Museum (also at 5:00 p.m.) the intense words of Marguerite Yourcenar’s novel “Fuochi” (by Anna Di Maggio) will accompany the adult public on a journey to discover love, a complex but unique and fascinating feeling.
“The promotion of reading through its contamination with the city’s cultural venues”, observes the Councillor for Culture, Franco Spina, “are at the heart of the “Fuori Luogo”Out of places” outdoor reading and education project, an event that aims to take the library outside its traditional spaces, to add the value of linguistic, relational, emotional, community identity details to oral narration. Not only to hear, but to touch and see the words, to stimulate new forms of participation and lived rootedness to one’s own territory to one’s own culture. This year we have decided to give complete autonomy to the review, and we are working with the Vallesiana Library to continue to promote, in a transversal manner, reading and its experiential and educational possibilities”.
