Sunday, May 7 (from 9 a.m. onward) bicycle touring event
open to all organized by AVIS under the patronage of the municipality
A day dedicated to lovers of “two wheels” who wish to ride slowly, gently, on a flat route. On Sunday, May 7, “Bici in città” returns, a cyclo-tourist event organized by the Castelfiorentino Avis with the patronage of the municipality, which aims to draw the population’s attention to the need to donate blood.
In this regard, all participants will be provided with a special bib made available by AVIS also to raise awareness of this issue, which is as topical as ever considering the drop in donations that has been recorded since the acute phase of the pandemic.
The meeting is set for 9 a.m. in Piazza Gramsci, and at 10:30 a.m. the start is scheduled, with a large group ride through the city streets. At 11:15 a.m. there will be a short stop with refreshments, and after about half an hour the second route will begin, with arrival scheduled at Gramsci Square at 12:15 p.m., where the awards ceremony will take place. An in-house raffle (1st prize city bike) and numerous other prizes are planned.
“Donating blood is a noble gesture,” notes Health Councillor Alessandro Tafi, “and one that can often help save lives. It doesn’t cost anything, it is done safely at the Transfusion Center, and indeed the donor receives great personal gratification from it, which comes from that inner awareness of having helped people who have perhaps suffered an accident or suffer from pathologies that force them to have frequent transfusions. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to join the appeal promoted by AVIS to participate in Sunday’s initiative and perhaps to reflect on the advisability of making this choice.”
