Itineraries to be covered on foot, on two wheels and on horseback. Shows and theatrical entertainment in the open air, in the streets of the hilltop village of Castelnuovo d’Elsa. Finally, an absolute novelty: the “poets” along the Francigena, who will accompany the visitor to discover the Castle of Coiano, near one of the “stops” described by Sigeric in 990 AD.
From Friday 30 September to Sunday 2 October the “Via Francigena in Valdelsa, between dream and legend” will take place in Castelfiorentino (FI), an event to revisit the ancient route traveled by pilgrims in the Middle Ages and immerse yourself in a magical atmosphere of other times . An event that in Castelfiorentino has never recorded interruptions over the years (not even due to the Covid emergency, considering that most of the initiatives are held outdoors) and which for this reason 2022 presents itself with an increasingly rich and diversified program , accessible and open as always to news.
One of these is scheduled for Saturday 1 October with the “Poets on the Francigena”, an evening with music and tasting at the Castle of Coiano, with the extraordinary participation of Massimiliano Bardotti, Paolo Parrini and Annalisa Ciampalini, who through the “subtle secret” of word and music will tell fragments of that “mystery of love” that is our existence, with the possibility at the end of a tasting based on truffles and glasses of wine.
The program dedicated to Enriques and Istituto Comprensivo students has also been extended (from Thursday 29 September to Saturday 1 October), aimed at raising awareness of the centrality of Castelfiorentino as a link between the “Via Francigena” and the “Via del Sale “Through ad hoc itineraries, modulated according to age, as well as excursions that revolve around the theme of” accessibility “(Friday 30 September and Sunday 2 October) enlivened on Sunday by exhilarating theatrical performances. The trekking excursions “in the footsteps of Sigeric” will take place both on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 October, through a full-bodied program, alternating itineraries with stops and tastings along the way, paths at sunset, theatrical entertainment. There will be the opportunity to travel the Francigena also with an e-bike, a bicycle equipped with pedal assistance (Sunday 2 October), to cross it on horseback, and finally to attend a series of theatrical performances in the suggestive hillside village of Castelnuovo d ‘Elsa: Friday 30 September with “Castellofobia. Where fear crosses the Francigena “, a disturbing mix of anguish, bewilderment and thrilling situations, Saturday 1 October with the” Theatrical Night “, a journey divided into five locations set in medieval times and over eighty between actors and extras, and finally Sunday 2 with “Un borgo in festa”, where the food and wine market (already open on Saturday afternoon) will also give life to workshops on the bread-making and nutrition of the time. Finally, both Saturday evening and Sunday for lunch, it is possible to stop at the “pilgrim’s table” (fixed menu at 18 euros).

In recent years it has also taken on the characteristics of a real festival, thanks to the theatrical performances, to the countless entertainment initiatives along the route, to the market, to the novelties that in terms of events give this event a dynamic and diversified, open look. at all ages.
