About 300 athletes will participate in the second phase of the Regional Kick boxing Championship, which will take place next Sunday (2 February) at the Pala Gilardetti in Castelfiorentino (via XXV Aprile).
Organised by the CONI FederCombat (Tuscan regional federation) in collaboration with the Polisportiva I’ Giglio and the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino, the competitions will begin at 10:30 a.m., and will continue in the afternoon until approximately 7:00 p.m. Competing for the podium will be hundreds of athletes from all over Tuscany, who will compete in four different specialities: light contact, point fighting, kick light. Kick Jitsu. The fights will take place in “light contact”, with the use of the mat (as opposed to the ring, which is in “full contact”).
The first four will be promoted to the Criterium, from which those who will access the finals of the Italian Championship will be selected. Admission is open to all. As you may recall, Kick boxing is a sporting discipline that combines boxing technique and martial arts (such as karate), and in recent years has seen a growing number of fans. A dozen athletes from the Polisportiva I’Giglio of Castelfiorentino will also participate in Sunday’s championship.
The choice of Castelfiorentino is not accidental: here, in fact, kick boxing has been practised for over 40 years and masters such as Stefano Cinci (belt 4th Dan) and Moreno Sanità, twice winner of the Italian Championship (in 1991 and 1996) and eleven times winner of the Regional Championship (today, having completed his competitive career, Moreno Sanità is president of the Regional Federkombat), grew up in Castelfiorentino.
“Castelfiorentino”, observes the Deputy Mayor with responsibility for Sport, Fabio Tinti, “has always been an important reference point for martial arts and for this Regional Championship of Kick Light, Light Contact, Point Fight and Kick Jitsu, being disciplines that are very popular and able to arouse the interest and curiosity of a wide audience, both young and old. I would like to thank the Polisportiva I’Giglio, in the persons of Silvano Comanducci, Stefano Cinci and Moreno Sanità, together with the Federkombat, for once again choosing Castelfiorentino, a decision we feel honoured by and that does credit to the sports infrastructure of our territory”.
