Around fifty vintage motorcycles, scooters and sidecars from all over Tuscany are expected to take part in the “Veterans on two wheels”, a rally in Castelfiorentino taking place to coincide with Republic Day (Tuesday 2 June), which counts as the third round of the Trofeo Toscano Motoraid.
Organised by the Moto Club Castelfiorentino in collaboration with the local AVIS branch and under the patronage of the Town Council, the event is open to all and will begin at 8.00 a.m. in Piazza Gramsci, with registration and an exhibition of vintage bikes running until 9.30 a.m. (registration fee €15, including breakfast). The first timed skill tests are scheduled for 10.30 a.m., consisting of completing a route within a set time (neither more nor less, with a low average speed)
This will be followed by a sightseeing tour – in groups of ten motorcyclists – towards Montaione, where the organising committee will stamp the route sheet. Once back in Castelfiorentino, the motorcyclists will take part in further skill tests, followed by the prize-giving ceremony, with a prize awarded to the top three in each category (vintage bikes, bikes registered in the historic register, modern bikes, etc.)
The local AVIS branch is participating as a partner in the event with the aim of raising public awareness of the need to donate blood and plasma.
