Friday 2 June in Piazza Gramsci mega gathering of vintage motorbikes, scooters and sidecars
organised by Avis in collaboration with the Castelfiorentino Motoclub.
Vintage motorbikes, scooters and sidecars from all over Tuscany are expected for the “Veterans” on two wheels, Castelfiorentino’s mega rally celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, which will be held on Friday 2 June to coincide with Republic Day.
Organised by the municipal AVIS in collaboration with the Castelfiorentino Moto Club, the initiative will start at 9.00 a.m. in Piazza Gramsci, with the opening of registration and a breakfast offered by AVIS. At 10.30 a.m. there will be the start of the tour, which will pass through the most characteristic places in the surrounding hills, with an aperitif stop. Around midday, the tour will resume with the second part of the route until lunchtime, with a test of skill consisting of completing a route in a predetermined time (no more, no less, with a low hourly average).
After lunch, which will be held in a restaurant in Castelfiorentino, the prize-giving ceremony will take place at 3 p.m., with the top ten finishers in the skills test, and numerous special prizes: to the participant who has come from the farthest away, for the oldest motorbike, for the most numerous motorbike club, for the most original motorbike, for the youngest and the oldest participant, and finally a prize for each female rider.
Please note that to participate, the motorbike, scooter or sidecar must have been registered up to 2002.
“This gathering of vintage motorbikes and scooters – observes the Councillor for Health, Alessandro Tafi – has always aroused interest and curiosity in the citizens, because they take us back in time with that baggage of memories that each person keeps in their personal experience. However, I would like to emphasise that this is above all a charitable initiative, promoted by AVIS with the aim of raising the population’s awareness of the need to donate blood and plasma, given the serious shortages we have been witnessing in recent times’.
The day is organised in collaboration with Prociv Arci, Rav, and Banca Cambiano 1884, and enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Castelfiorentino.
